Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Nope. The Boardwalk partners with outside vendors for all of our bar services, and we can’t allow guests to bring their own alcohol without a certified bartender. However, any beverage service that is licensed and insured is welcome to serve at The Boardwalk.

Can I bring my own food?

Yup. The Boardwalk offers full flexibility in the vendors that you choose for catering. We have recommendations of preferred vendors for any style or budget that you’re looking for, and we’re happy to help point you in the right direction. Most rental agreements include full use of our onsite commercial kitchen. If you choose to cater your own event, you may have use of all available facilities.

LGBTQ+?

Yup. From our very first wedding (true story) The Boardwalk is proud to support every community of people.

Rainy Day?

Yup. Our outdoor 3-season garden tent can accommodate 250 guests rain or shine. Our main lodge is climate controlled with lounge and bar spaces, banquet and ceremony hall, bathrooms, and commercial kitchen. If weather threatens your day, we whisk your preparations indoors. A rainy day on the river has it’s own special magic, and the show goes on!

Patio Heaters?

Yup. You don’t have to ask and we don’t charge extra. We’re here to host your perfect event regardless of the weather. If it starts getting cold, we’re here to take care of you and your guests. Patio heaters are included.

Pets?

Yup. Dogs (and other pets?) on leashes are welcome anywhere on the property outside of the buildings. Please let us know ahead of time that you’re bringing your friends and we’ll be sure they have safe and comfortable accommodations.

Mosquitos?

No thank you. We utilize our own intelligent insect eradication procedures and partner with a local bug extermination expert. We have developed a precise formula that tracks insect lifecycles through day-by-day changes in temperatures, rainfall, humidity, and barometric pressures throughout the season. Nothing can be 100% effective, but we take every precaution for an enjoyable experience by the St Joseph River.
